Residents, who spoke to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), expressed relief and appreciated the service's operational hours, which extend into late-night periods, and various amenities provided. A female traveller highlighted a “positive aspect” of the smart bus, pointing to the segregated seating arrangement for males and females. She said this enhances passengers’ “overall sense of security”. According to details available with KNO, the Srinagar Smart City Electric Bus Service has notched up over five lakh passengers in its initial 60-day phase. Launched on November 01, 2023, by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Srinagar Smart City Electric Bus service has seen substantial growth, with the daily ridership increasing nearly fivefold since November. A key feature appreciated by both passengers and drivers is the comfort provided, including separate seats for the handicapped, remotely controlled for convenience. The service operates through the night in specific areas and offers a climate-controlled environment, which ensures warmth during winters and cooling in summers—a notable and positive aspect—(KNO)
